About Us

Come experience unique hands-on exhibits, classes, and programs
that stimulate your imagination and curiosity. A visit to the
Children's Discovery Museum located in Uptown Normal, Illinois
creates a sense of wonder that excites the love of learning in
children of all ages.
The Children's Discovery Museum is a different kind of museum --
where touching the exhibits is actually encouraged. The exhibits are
designed for kids of any age to touch, climb on, climb into, and
even take apart and put back together. It's a liberty kids are
seldom afforded in a museum -- or anywhere else!
And there's more to the Museum than just exhibits. Click on the
links to the left to learn about birthday parties, field trips,
educational programming, and more.
Our Mission
The mission of the Children's Discovery Museum is to inspire the
love of learning through the power of play.
Our mission is accomplished by providing hands-on exhibits,
classes, and programs that actively engage the visitor in
experiences that stimulate imagination, curiosity, and wonder.
Visit Our History Page for information
on our history.
Our exhibits, classes, and programs provide:
- Opportunities for children and adults to participate in a
variety of learning experiences together, which deepens the
parent-child bond far beyond the Museum walls.
- Exploratory and interactive play that encourages learning
through object manipulation, imaginative role-playing, and
sensory stimulation.
- Engaging activities that build a positive disposition toward
learning and a heightened sense of an ability to learn.
The Museum building itself was built with the health of its
visitors and employees in mind. The Children's Discovery Museum was
the first children’s museum in the country to achieve LEED
Certification. Click here to learn more. |
