Science Extravaganza Teacher Workshops
Grades
3 through 8
Science Extravaganza, Parts 1 & 2, will be taught in four,
three-hour sessions that are held once weekly, for a total of 12
instructional hours. Each participant will work through an entire
binder of inquiry-based science activities and strategies for
successful preparation of students for the ISAT tests. Cost includes
the binder, hands-on experience, motivational games & ISAT
strategies. Sessions will be held Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m.
Cost is $75 per person, $10 discount for each additional teacher

Science Extravaganza, Part 1, will highlight topics such as
water, electricity, trajectory patterns, landfills and more!
Date: October 12-November 2, 2006
Science Extravaganza, Part 2 will highlight topics such as sound,
light, chemistry, classification and more.

Science at Your Fingertips
Grade 3 through 8
These workshops will be taught in one three-hour session. The
activities are designed as supplements that can be implemented into
the existing school science curriculums to “spice up” the science
program. All activities will be inquiry-based activities that have
been correlated to a variety of science topics. Strategies will be
presented for successfully transferring the activities to the
participant’s classroom, with the emphasis placed upon the “doing”
of science. Participants will be expected to actively participate in
the presented activities and will receive written copies and
directions for the activities.
Dates: September 21, 2006 OR March 1, 2007
Time: 6 to 9 p.m.
Cost: $20 per person, $5 discount for each additional teacher from

the St. Louis Science Center and CDM staff as we trek to eastern
Montana in July 2007 to experience life as a paleontologist!
Spend nine days prospecting and excavating real dinosaur fossils
alongside professional geologists and paleontologists, enjoy
presentations and discussions with geologists and paleontologists
and participate in professional development workshops.
Cost is $1,800 per person and includes airfare from St. Louis to
Montana, transportation to field sites, three meals daily, lodging,
training, supplies & equipment, lectures and entertainment.
University credit available. Great way to use professional
