Self-Guided Field Trips

Bring your group to CDM to explore all three floors of exhibits at your own pace. On arrival, every group receives a brief orientation by a Museum staff person.

Cost: Qualifying pre-registered non-profit or educational groups of 10 or more receive a discount rate of $4.00 per person. Paid staff are free. Call to see if your group qualifies. Please note: coupons or family membership passes may not be used for field trips, as group rates are already discounted.

Learning Lab/Museum Exploration Combo

You may add a facilitated Learning Lab in addition to your self-guided field trip for just $2 per student. Learning labs offer your group an in-depth, hands-on program led by a museum educator based on museum exhibits and other exciting topics.

Labs have a limit of 20-25 students at one time. Classes with more than 25 students need to break up into multiple labs. A $15 non-refundable deposit is required for each learning lab scheduled.

First, complete the Reservation Checklist. Then contact the Museum at (309) 433-3455 or (309) 433-3449. Spring fills quickly; consider a field trip in fall or winter.

Lunch Options

LIMITED lunch space for up to 48 people is available at a cost of $15 per 1/2 hour.  Reservations and prepayment required. Please note: Groups may not eat lunch in the Museum unless they reserve and pay for a lunch space in advance. There is a public park located within walking distance of the Museum. A staff person will be happy to provide directions. Please note, indoor lunch space is not available on Fridays.

Avanti’s Sack Lunches Available: You may pre-order Avanti’s sack lunches for your group. Cost is $5.00 per lunch and includes 1/3 gondola, baked chips, applesauce and juice.
