Calling all scout leaders! Troops and Packs are sure to enjoy these innovative and exciting hands-on programs. Each workshop works toward completing topic requirements.
Please note: Scout workshops do not include museum admission. If your group wants to play before or after the workshop, you will receive a discounted admission $4.00 per person, ages 2 and above.

It's a Secret
|
Native American Lore 2 hour program $10 per scout (minimum requirement 8 scouts or $50 fee) Learn all about Native American culture. Find out what they wore, where they lived and what they did for fun! Scouts will make an instrument, traditional clothing and tools. Plus, make a model of a Native American house. |
| Be An Artist 90 minute program $8 per scout (minimum requirement 7 scouts or $50 fee) Discover art as we learn all about colors, drawing, and more in this exciting workshop! Scouts will learn how to tell a story through cartoons, make a freehand sketch and create secondary colors. Make a mural as a group and posters for an upcoming event or pack meeting! |

Native American Life Elective |
Art Elective 1 hour program $6 per scout (minimum requirement 8 scouts or $50 fee) Let the creative juices flow in this art workshop! Scouts will make lots of take home art projects including collages, mosaic picture , and paintings. Participants will also sketch silhouettes of each other like a real artist! |
| Weather Elective 1 hour program $6 per scout (minimum requirement 8 scouts or $50 fee) Become a weather watcher! Scouts will learn about thermometers, wind, clouds and air pressure. Scouts will make a weather vane, rain gauge and a barometer. Compare your weather predictions to the television and radio forecasts! |
Cub Scout Academics: Astronomy
Become a space explorer! Boys will work on accomplishing belt loop and pin requirements in these hands-on programs. All registered Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts may participate.
| Pin 90 minute program $8 per scout (minimum requirement 7 scouts or $50 fee) Boys will discuss and draw star constellations, make pocket planetariums and learn the life cycle of a star. Also, learn about the North Star and explore careers in astronomy! |
Belt Loop 1 hour program $6 per scout (minimum requirement 8 scouts or $50 fee) Participants will meet all three belt loop requirements as they learn how to use binoculars, identify the parts of the solar system and describe scientific space terms. |
Webelos
| Scientist 90 minute programs $8 per scout (minimum requirement 7 scouts or $50 fee) Use science skills to learn about air, water and atmospheric pressure. Scouts will experiment with fog, gravity and inertia. Discover what makes scientists like Pascal, Bernoulli and Newton so famous. |
Engineer 90 minute programs $8 per scout (minimum requirement 7 scouts or $50 fee) Explore the many fields of engineers! Scouts will learn the ins and outs of electricity, explore bridge construction and discuss architectural designs. Plus, participants will create and electric circuit quiz board to take home! |
| Artist 90 minute programs $8 per scout (minimum requirement 7 scouts or $50 fee) Make like Picasso in this hands-on workshop! Scouts will learn all about the color wheel, various types of media, and even make a collage! Learn to paint without brushes and then make a frame for your artwork. Plus, participants will sketch silhouettes of fellow scouts. |

Brownie/Girl Scout Try-Its
2–hour programs: $10 per scout (minimum requirement of 6 scouts or $50 fee) Add the CDM Fun Patch for an additional $4
| Space Explorer Learn about the world beyond the Earth, discover why the moon has phases, create a working sundial, pocket planetarium and more! |
Movers Learn about the four forces of flight as you create helicopters, gliders and kites. Discover the power of air with wind cars and windsocks. |
| Art to Wear Scouts will become fashion designers as they decorate their own t-shirts using Sharpie Pen Science, design masks and make zipper pulls for backpacks. (T-shirts provided by CDM) |
Science Wonders Through hands-on experiments scout will learn the science behind bubbles, homemade paper, static electricity and “elephant’s toothpaste!" |

Daisy Girl Scout

Paper Making
Discover where paper comes from and how to make it yourself! Make your
own stamp and create your own stationery.
Junior Girl Scout
2-hour programs: $10 per girl (minimum requirement 6 scouts or $50 fee) Add the CDM Fun Patch for an additional $4
| Drawing and Painting Mix colors, paint without brushes and create your own masterpieces. Troops will also design and decorate their own mural. |
Science Discovery Become a scientist at the museum, experiment with chemicals, make your own kaleidoscope and challenge your brain with optical illusions. Plus, try your hand at water science! |
| Weather Watch Learn about clouds, thermometers and fronts. Make barometers, hygrometers and weather vanes to continue your weather observations at home. |
Making it Matter Discover engineering careers. Become a chemical engineer and mix-up polymers and invisible ink. Learn about electrical and civil engineering as you create a working circuit board and design your own bridge. |

Includes a self guided visit, seek and find adventure and official Children’s Discovery Museum fun patch! (Recommended 90 minute -2 hour program/$6 per girl-$4 per adult)

Program Fees & Availability:
Scout program fees are per scout and do not include museum admission. Workshop chaperones and leaders are free. If scouts and leaders wish to play in the museum before or after their workshop, we offer a reduced admission of $4 per person ages 2 and above. The Museum requires one adult for every five scouts. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required for scout programs.
