Where to park in Uptown Normal
Uptown Normal is certainly a happening place to be. You can’t
walk or drive around this area without noticing many great
projects that are in the works. While all the progress will
ultimately result in new restaurants, a five-star hotel, new
shopping destinations, and a revitalized Uptown, there are
certain growing pains that must be dealt with in the short term.
A significant growing pain for Museum visitors is the
temporary lack of parking. Effective
immediately: The parking lot immediately adjacent to the Museum
is closed. Please click
here for parking options
- Want a guaranteed parking spot
within walking distance of the Museum? Consider the
convenience of the College Avenue Parking Deck.
It features 685 spaces and is only a block away from the
CDM. The deck is free during the evenings (6p-6a), on
Sundays, and the first hour is always free no matter what
time of day. Otherwise, parking will be just $1 an hour, and
special all-day and overnight rates are also available.
- There is a small parking lot across the street from the
Museum, directly to the north. This lot offers two hour
parking.
- There is another small lot, located near the
intersection of Beaufort and Broadway, to the west of the
Museum, that offers two hour parking.
- Parkinson Street Lot: This parking lot is adjacent to
the Amtrak station and has been designated as public parking.
However, please note this lot is often
full with long-term Amtrak parking. Simply
drive east on Beaufort; turn right (south) on Linden, go
over the railroad tracks; and then turn right (west) on
Parkinson St. The public is welcome to park in any
non-signed spaces for up to three hours.
Please note that parking is restricted
on Tuesdays during the summer (June-September) for the
Trailside Market. There are signs that clearly mark these
spots.
