FETCH!™ Lab Activities at the CDM
Ages 5-10
Here is
the schedule of activities for the Museum’s FETCH!™ Lab. These
activities take place each day at 10 a.m. and are free
with paid admission.
June 29-July 5
Eat Like a Bird
Step up to the bird-beak
challenge. Try out different
“beaks” to collect different types of “food” and learn how important
the shape of a beak is for survival!
July 6-12
Stack ‘Em Up
Challenge gravity and
build towers as high as possible with paper cups, marshmallows and
toothpicks.
July 13-19
Float My Boat
Investigate floating and
sinking. Build a tinfoil boat
and load it up with as many pennies as you can!
July 20-26
Toy Chemistry
Mix up a gooey solid that
you can mold and stretch into weird shapes. This is chemistry at its
craziest!

27-August 2 Blow it Away
Construct a car, design a
sail and discover how moving air makes it go!
August 3-9
Operation Espionage
Think like a detective as
you learn how to write and decode secret messages!
August
10-16 Set it Straight
Challenge a tabletop
see-saw and construct a balancing bird toy while you learn about the
science behind balancing.
August
17-23 Canine House of Cards
Build a two-story
building for Ruff out of index cards using just one shape. Then test
its strength with dog bones!
August 24-30
Rescue Mission
Challenge your engineering skills while you
design and test a hook that will rescue a sunken capsule.
