Master Gardeners 

Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension will be in the Museum's Dig It exhibit! Kids (and grown-ups) can get their hands dirty as Master Gardeners explore pollination, plant parts, lady bugs, seeds and more. We will wrap up the summer with out traditional watercolor garden party. 

            June 26- Lady Bugs

            July 31- Garden Art Party

Growing Up Wild! 

Master Naturalists are members of our local community that love nature! The mission of the University of Illinois Master Naturalist Program is to provide science-based educational opportunities that connect people with nature and help them become engaged environmental stewards. These activities will help children connect with nature and develop an appreciation for our world’s limited natural resources.

Cost: Drop In Program 

The Deep Blue Sea

Children and parents will develop an awareness of oceans and ocean life through exploration in the classroom. 

Date: Saturday, June 15
Age: 3- 7 years old and their caregivers
Time: 9:30–10:00am & 10:30 - 11:00 am

Wildlife Water Safari

Children will discover water sources for local wildlife and make cardboard tube binoculars and safari hats to take on a safari walk.

Age: 3- 7 years old and their caregivers
Time: 9:30–10:00am & 10:30-11:00am

Books on the Go!

We are teaming up with the Normal Public Library for a Book on the Go! Check out our calendar for specifics on the books that will be read.

Art Around You: Exploring Contemporary Art in the Community 

The Children’s Discovery Museum has been awarded The Mirza Arts and Culture grant from the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, Inc. (IPCF) which helps fund this program. 
Visit University Galleries and participate in a scavenger hunt to help you discover the style and media used to create works of art. Then return to the museum where you will explore these styles and media as you create your own art.
