“We are excited to offer extended hours and times for families to play together, fostering learning and healthy development outside the home,” says Beth Whisman, executive director of Cultural Arts for the Town of Normal. “We hope caregivers are also able to take advantage of our extended hours when schools are closed to play in our exhibits and make lifetime memories. For families facing financial challenges, our Museums for All program offers discounted admission and scholarships.”

Museums for All information is posted on the museum’s website. The program is a cooperative initiative between the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) to encourage increased and regular museum attendance by low-income and under-served families.

After Spring Break, museum staff plans to continue efforts to restore full operations that have been severely limited over the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDM will offer the following regular hours this spring:

Monday – Members Only           9 a.m. to noon

Tuesday & Wednesday              9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thursday & Friday                     9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday                                   9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday                                     1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“The museum is preparing and recruiting staff to restore full operations after two years of significant closures and limited hours,” Whisman added. “After Spring Break, we hope our community is able and ready to return to a full-time play schedule with the museum’s usual high standards for health and safety protocols. We sincerely appreciate our community’s support and our visitors’ patience and cooperation as we bounce back. It’s a great time to purchase a membership to take advantage of great deals and to play all week!”
