    Playful Learners is designed for you and your child to learn and play together. When children play, they are learning a variety of skills all vital to their future success... including; problem-solving, communication and social-emotional. Each one-hour class begins with group time where children and adult partners play and interact together, then moves to center based learning where fine and gross motor skills are developed through play, physical moment, music and art activities.     Every day volunteers and interns help make the Children’s Discovery Museum “the most wonderful place in the world”. Volunteers spend their time interacting and playing with our visitors, help keep the museum tidy, lead free programming and assist with education classes in and out of the museum! To learn more about the many ways for individuals, organizations, and corporations to volunteer at The Children’s Discovery Museum, please see the information below. Volunteer Requirements: Age 13 or older Friendly and enthusiastic Reliable and flexible Consent to a background check (if under 19, no background check is required but applicant must have guardian's consent) Attend a volunteer orientation

  4. Halloween Hoopla

    October 25, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

    This popular fall family event is deigned for ghosts and goblins of all ages! Kids and grown-ups alike come in costume to celebrate Halloween with trick-or-treating in the museum exhibits and spooktacular games and crafts. The Zoo Crew will be here to complete your look with free face painting! Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

  5. Breakfast on the Balcony

    October 26, 2019, 9:00 AM

    Breakfast on the Balcony will take place on Saturday, October 26, as a private viewing party of the Illinois State University Homecoming Day Parade from the Children’s Discovery Museum second floor balcony. The raffle winner will receive one of the best views of the parade! Raffle tickets can be purchased online through October 21st at 5:00pm. Tickets cost $25 each or purchase 10 tickets for $200. The winner will be notified by phone and email on October 21st. Breakfast on the Balcony Experience includes: • Redbirds eye view of the 2019 ISU Homecoming Parade at 10:00-11:30AM on Saturday, October 26 o CDM Balcony Access from 9:00AM-12:00PM •Tickets to the ISU Homecoming Football Game at 2:00PM on October 26 •Museum Admission for 20 people on October 26 •Breakfast for 20 people •ISU branded swag bags to showcase your Redbird Pride! •Free parking in the Uptown Station deck for 5 vehicles
